Pictured above is a 1958 Harley Davidson Panhead. It was last ridden in 1980, then taken apart for a complete re-build. Well after 32 years of being apart i was able to buy this unit as a “basket case”. Meaning: I brought this bike home in boxes, two yrs ago. The bike was approximately 90% complete!, with much work having been already done ! This was a Fantastic Find for me! Reason: 1958 is the year i was born… It was also the 1st year of many changes the Harley Davidson Motor Co. had made to solidify their position as the leading motorcycle manufacturer in America. !
I began riding motorcycles in the early 70’s, at age 14. I was given a 1960’somthing model Honda that didn’t run. It didn’t take long for me to get it going,, an down the road i went! That would be my first taste of Freedom!, and as they say ‘In Tha Wind’… I now call it, ‘tha fever’,lol… At age 17 i bought my first Harley, and never looked back! By the time i was 20 yrs old i began building custom bikes,,, stretched, lowered, custom, low riders… I’m 55 yrs old now. And at this point in my life,, i’m now restoring these old motorcycles to there original condition. Not an easy task ! I will soon be posting pics of recent restorations,,, along with ‘tips’ to assist you in any way i can ! I’m now in search of an early model Harley Davidson Shovelhead, or possibly another Panhead ! Thanks and stay tuned !
